What I have recently read.
"Tdaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose is the

This book tells the tale of then U.S. President Thomas Jefferson's desire to learn if there was a contiguous water way between the Missouri River in St Louis and the Pacific ocean.  After the Louisiana Purchase was completed, Jefferson asked Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to lead an expedition that lasted from 1803-1806.  It is arguably the greatest expedition in United States history.  During the expedition, Lewis and Clark and their group encountered the Rocky Mountains and ultimately were not able to find the direct water route from St Louis to the Pacific.  As we all know today that direct water route doesn't exist.  After the conclusion of the expedition Lewis committed suicide because he thought he failed President Jefferson and the American people.  He assumed that there was a direct water way but that he and Clark couldn't find it.  The moral to this great book is directly relatable to today's challenging economic times.  Sometimes during the journey we don't know if we succeeded or failed and often time it isn't until long after the journey that we discover what successes and victories we achieved during our journey.
