2. Assessing the value of your time.

3. How to utilize as much of your time as possible to;

     a. Perform the tasks that you enjoy the most.

Anatomy of a 30-45 Second "Commercial"

We are often asked the question, "What do you do?"  We should be able to articulate what we do and how it brings benefit in 30 seconds or less.  This is a good tool to utilize to construct that "elevator speech" we all need to sell ourselves and what we do in a short and efficient way.

A good 30-second introduction consists of 5 sections.  Each section is designed to allow you to share specific information about you and your business.

Section 1: Introduction (12 seconds)

Your name

Your position & company name

Very quick overview of your products and/or services

What type of business or clients do you ideally have?

Section 2: Tell a Story (11 seconds)

What makes you different/unique from your competition?

Share a specific, recent story that exemplifies what makes you different.

Section 3: Ask for the Business (8 seconds)

A good referral for me is (be very specific)

Section 4: Call to Action (7 seconds)

"So if you see/hear/know of _______________________ please give him/her my contact information."

Section 5: Memory Hook (7 Seconds)

My memory hook is _______________

After you say your memory hook/unique selling proposition/what makes you different, conclude with your name and company

Book and Music Recommendation

My long time (14+ years) Executive Assistant and close friend Monica Pincus gave me this book.  It is a transparent and vulnerable look into the life of one of the greatest male tennis players in history.  It is amazing how honest Agassi shares his life experience and the pain he has endured.  This is hands down the best autobiography I have ever read.  I cannot recommend it with more enthusiasm.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of my favorite singer/songwriters is Bruce Springsteen.  There are some songs that I would swear he wrote with me in mind.  In 1975 Springsteen released the album Born to Run and on it my favorite Springsteen song, Backstreet's.  It is my favorite song because the lyrics speak to trying to live up to expectations and telling ourselves stories about how we are not as good as others.  The song tells us that we are trying to do and be our best.  Here are some of the lyrics from Backstreet's,

"Remember all the movies, Terry, we'd go see

trying to learn to walk like the hero's we thought we had to be

and after all this time to find we're just like all the rest

stranded in the park and forced to confess to hiding on the backstreet's."
